Welcome Friends

Hello friend, I’m so glad you’re here.

I’m an author, yes, but whether it’s through my books, texting with friends, meeting up for coffee, hanging with my kids…my aim is to be an encourager. Even if my books aren’t for you, I hope I can encourage you through my blog.

If you found this corner of blog world, it’s very likely that you’re either a new homemaker looking for ideas on how to set a rhythm for your home routines, a new believer looking for someone to walk alongside you as you learn how to walk in the newness of Christ, or a woman that is mature in her faith and been a mom/wife/homemaker/homeschooler for a long time and has lost her motivation. Maybe you were thrust into a season you weren’t expecting, or you have just done the same old thing for so long that you don’t know how to get excited about anything anymore. Whatever the case may be, I pray this page can be a source of encouragement and inspiration, a place to learn new things together, and some laughs.

Let me tell you how I got here: in 2016, I was living my desired life, although imperfectly. I had found my groove in homemaking and homeschooling. After a lifetime of being mediocre at many things, I found that I took to the stay-at-home mom/wife/homeschool life quite naturally and I loved it. Absolutely loved it.

That spring my husband woke up and couldn’t see right.

Then his legs started to be weak.

He couldn’t perform his duties at work, and we were going from referral to referral, doctor to doctor, expert to expert, searching for answers. We didn’t know what was wrong and neither did they.

His work had to let him go and he was granted medical retirement. We didn’t get a diagnosis for three more years: multiple sclerosis.

That is its own world, but that’s not what this blog is about. This is about how I went from a routine and rhythm of life that I loved to days full of uncertainty in routine. Not uncertainty in faith or the Lord, just in purpose, in daily life.

And quite frankly, I’ve had enough of that. Being stuck. Unmotivated. Unsure of what to do with myself. And by default, saying yes to less and folding in on my little world more than usual.  Which, in case you didn’t know, is a real creativity killer and a detriment to writers. Even more, it’s not how a child of God should live.

I started thinking, “What would I tell a friend in this situation?”

I’d tell her to stop trying to fit her new life into the old way. I would tell her to make her old mind new with prayer, Scripture, discipline, and shaking things up. So here we go. I’m taking lessons the Lord has taught me over the years in friendships, hospitality, homemaking, and the like and sharing them with you in hopes they help you and that I learn a new way to do them as we go along.

Some facts about me:

I’m a girl mom and I love it. The teen years are upon us and I am having the best time. If you have little ones, don’t believe the lie that they’ll suddenly turn into terrors when they reach a certain age.

My husband is my favorite person—kind, witty, sarcastic, and completely no-nonsense. He is just what I needed to keep me from being too dramatic.

I love chips and queso. So much. Too much. This is where the Lord had put me to learn self control 😉

I have six published books to date, and I love to share truth from God’s word through story. I also love to write sweet romance. My favorite authors are Nicole Deese, Gabrielle Meyer, and Lori Benton, and Cindy Steele (who doesn’t write Christian fiction, but rather sweet, clean, spunky romances).

I write for a local magazine and am really bad at planning out my articles in advance. Which drives my husband crazy.

That’s enough about me. I would really like to hear more about you! How can I come alongside you, internet style, in your walk with the Lord, in this season of life?

Here in the blogging corner of my website, you’ll find me trying to set new rhythms and habits and coming alongside you as you do the same. Let’s make our old minds new together, shall we?
